NOW...is the peak time for EXTERIOR PAINTING...

Can you feel it? Summer is quickly slipping away. And if you’re like most homeowners, I’m sure there are more than a few tasks yet to be completed on your summer to-do list. It’s time to get a move on, right?

There’s no better—or more important—time to start, than by painting the exterior of your house. It’s a vital maintenance project that boosts your home’s curb appeal and protects it from the elements.

Because weather plays a huge factor in when you can get started, you better start planning now—in case a few rainstorms or soaring temperatures delay the project. (You want to paint when it’s no colder than 50 degrees Fahrenheit and not much warmer than 85)

So lets get started!

Paint Selection
You probably already have some idea of exterior paint colors that you like, whether you want to go lighter, darker or save money and go back with the same. I'll be glad to help with your decision. In addition to color, you also need to choose an appropriate type of paint for your home’s exterior. For example, vinyl and aluminum siding should both be painted with satin or low-luster paint to hide the dents they often get.

Surface Prep
Don’t assume that a new coat of paint will cover up the dirt and chips covering your home. This is where the less-experienced, unlicensed companies err. We use a pressure washer with a wide-nozzle hose to wash off the grime and kill mildew first. Then, take a quality scraper and sandpaper if needed to "feather" the edges of old peeling paint and very importantly, prime the exposed areas with a top quality primer. If we spray the siding (don't get paranoid)  we'll tape off your windows, cover decks and driveways, and cover bushes and trees that are close to the house as well.  Spraying large areas will not only save time and money but it also applies a heavier, more even coat and the finished product looks smoother.

When we’re all finished, we dispose of everything properly. Of course.

Interesting facts to consider:

-A good, quality paint job, by an experienced company, will last an estimated 8-10 yrs, in reasonable conditions.

-A once-over, by the fly-by-night paint company will last an estimated 2 years.

-Do the math...how much did you save by going "cheaper"?

The old saying, "You get what you pay for", is so true.
